More Than Just a Basketball Court

The main floor at Sparks Lake Activity Center is being designed as a true multi-purpose community space. While it serves as a regulation basketball court, it can also transform into a professional event hall in minutes.

With a planned retractable divider at half court, the building can host two completely separate functions at the same time. One side can remain in sports mode, while the other becomes a meeting hall, banquet space, or community forum area.

  • Retractable divider to create two independent event areas
  • Hoops designed to raise to the ceiling when not in use
  • Lowerable lighting zones for an intimate event atmosphere
  • Tables, chairs, and portable staging options
  • ADA-compliant bathrooms and accessible entrances
  • Dressing rooms for weddings, performances, and sports
  • Flexible layout for parties, meetings, concerts, and receptions

Basketball & Activity Center

The Sparks Lake Activity Center is being built as a year-round place for the community to gather, play, and grow together. At the heart of the project is a restored basketball court and an indoor activity space designed for games, events, practices, and community programs.

What You Can Expect

  • Open gym times, youth programs, and community tournaments
  • Event-friendly space for meetings, groups, and local gatherings
  • A safe, welcoming environment for families, students, and neighbors

This is part of a larger vision that includes outdoor amenities like miniature golf, frisbee golf, pickleball, batting cages, and a covered pavilion.

More than a court

Our basketball floor is also a flexible event hall—designed to host the whole community.

While we love game nights, this space is being planned as a true multi-use venue. The court can convert quickly for meetings, parties, community forums, receptions, and more—so the building stays active all week, not just on game days.

Built for events

Planned separation between halves with a divider, lowered lighting in the active half, and space for banquet layouts, concert platforms, presentations, and community gatherings.

Hoops + equipment move out of the way

The hoops are planned to draw up to the ceiling so the room can “read” like an event venue when needed (clean sightlines, open floor, flexible staging).

ADA-friendly support spaces

Bathrooms are planned to be ADA compliant, and dressing rooms can serve weddings, team events, performances, and community productions.

Planned layout: a divider helps create two “rooms” in one building—so a game, practice, meeting, or banquet can happen without the space feeling like one big gym.

Note: Some features described above are part of our planned build-out and may be delivered in phases. The goal is a space that can shift from “game night” to “community night” fast and safely.

Flexible space concept

One court. Two separate event zones.

This area isn’t just a basketball court—it’s being planned as a convertible event hall. A divider at half court creates two distinct spaces so a game, meeting, party, forum, or reception can happen without the room feeling like one big gym.

Design intent: hoops can draw up to the ceiling and lighting can be lowered/zone-controlled so each half feels like its own dedicated event space.
